Through this walk you will experience the architecture, philosophy, history and culture of the most ancient living city "Varanasi". We will be walking along the old quarters of the city which lies in the north. We will go to some hidden but extraordinarily beautiful places of worship and try to understand what role does spirituality and mythology plays in Hinduism. We will visit a colorful flower market, which will certainly stimulate your olfactory senses. We will have yummy, creamy fruit lassi from one of the best Lassi joint in the city. We will walk through the narrow by-lanes, walking past cows and bulls and often get photographed with them as well. We will talk to many interesting locals and visit the house of a very prominent writer. We will also walk along the riverside to reach to the cremation ghat and understand the concepts about Life, death, reincarnation and salvation, about acceptability of Death.
• The Duration of Walk is 3 to 3.5 hrs. It starts from St. Thomas Church, Girjaghar crossing at 3 pm everyday. • During the walk we will visit some hidden places of worship which has beautiful architecture and stories behind them. • We will visit the colorful flower market, which will stimulate your olfactory senses and is very much photogenic. • Walking amidst the crowdy and chaotic streets of old Banaras, we will try to figure out what all things makes this city so beautiful.
• We will explore the bylanes together, try to see a typical hindu house from inside. • Walking by the Riverside, we will reach the cremation ghat and understand that why dying in Varanasi is in every hindu's bucket list.This tour doesn't include pick-up/drop-off services. This activity includes moderate walking with ample rests in between. Currently, we have storytellers well versed in English and Hindi only but soon we will have storytellers fluent in other languages as well.
